Langtang is one of the best trekking routes in Nepal.The peak of Langtang is situated at the altitude of 7246m can be seen from the north of Kathmandu on a clear day. The main attraction of this region is Langtang National Park at Ghora Tabela (3048m) including rhododendron forest. The view of Ganesh Himal (7406m) can be observed from third region Langtang Valley lies at the south of the Tibetan boarder. The people here are of Tibetan origin and call themselves Sherpa’s although they are quite distinct from Sherpa’s. Spring and autumn, Late February, March, April, May and September to Late November are the best times for travelling in Langtang area. During the Langtang trekking, one can have an exciting view of wonderful High Mountain, lakes, Gosaikunda and the beautiful valley which is called “Helambu” .Also one can also visit Langtang National Park and if interested he/she can trek to the end of the valley to have a look of wonderful ice flutes of Gyanchempo. Overall, Lang tang valley is the most demanded and the popular trekking destination of Nepal. Basically, Lang tang valley trek begins with the drive along the Trisuli River which is situated north of Kathmandu Valley. It is also considered as the easy trek as compared to the other trekking routes which is flourished with amazing natural view and typical Nepali Villages. Langtang Valley Trek is really wonderful place to spend your vacation. The most common and visited place of this valley is Kyanjingg Gompa. This amazing destination is the cultural valley which holds some of the old and ancient religious temples and a monastery which gives you an opportunity to explore the wilderness flourished with snow-covered region and natural serene and enables you to experience the culture and lifestyle of the local inhabitants.
Gosaikunda is located at the height of 4381m from the sea level in the Lang tang region. It is popular religious site. It has got holy lakes where thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit during the full moon festival in August.
Helambu, 60 km north of Kathmandu, is the area dominated by Sherpas whose language, culture and dress differ from that of the Solukhumbu Sherpa’s. It consists of a number of valleys of which the Melamchi is important.
When to visit? When to trek Lang tang Region
The high season for trekking in the langtang area are during Spring - February to early may and Autumn[late September to early December] .Spring is the time for rhododendrons while the clearest skies and found after the monsoon late September , October , November and early December. At this time, the weather is generally mild and there is less rain fall. During winter is also possible, especially in Helambu, but higher parts may have too much snow.
